Synopsis :
In his harrowing, emotionally powerful Oscar-nominated
documentary film maker Kirby Dick explores the
battle of one sexual-abuse victim’s lonely crusade for
an apology from the diocese that knowingly sheltered
a pedophile. The gripping result is an intensely moving
and passionately realized documentary that’s truly

While attending a Catholic High School, Tony fell under
the sway of Father Gray whom he’d invite to his Michigan
cabin for weekends spent drinking, skinny-dipping, and
playing pool. It was here that Gray would be repeatedly
molested. Tony bottled up his hurt and anger for nearly
20 years until he turn to the Church for help. But When
the Bishop rejects Tony he decides to sue the church.
Thus begins his painful attempt to make peace with his
troubled past—and bring Gray to justice.
Dick incorporates video excerpts from Gray’s court
deposition in which he proves to be both evasive and
chillingly matter-of-fact in his answers still there is
nothing overtly monstrous about this middle-aged man,
who inflicted so much damage on Tony and other men,
three of whom share their stories in Twist of Faith.
Twist of Faith may be both heartbreaking and enraging to watch, but it’s not unrelentingly grim, as we witness
a man who with enormous courage struggles against the church’s monolithic hold on friends and family to
put his life back together.
