In the past, documentaries had often been regarded as rather monotonous, highbrow and inaccessible, only to be seen by a discriminating few, a view which has radically shifted in recent times. Over the last few years, there has been a resurgence in interest in the genre which has now received a long overdue shot in the arm, as film-makers endevour to exploit the full potential of cinema to explore an array of interesting and compelling subjects with a new found creativity and artistic flare. Artefact Media was established to reflect this growing interest in documentary film.

Artefact Media aims to support both documentary film-makers and enthusiasts bringing to them a selection of associated services. As well as specialising in the sale of documentaries on DVD and books about documentary we also have our own dedicated documentary distribution label bringing to the home market a variety of documentary film titles. We have also set up Artefact Press specialising in the publication of  books about film documentary.  Furthermore we have created Docs-on-Demand which we hope will provide film-makers a valuable and alternative distribtion outlet.
